Acrylic Wall Signs, Self Adhesive Vinyl Wall Graphic
The Challenge
The project required designing signage for several different surfaces such as drywall, concrete, and cinderblock. Having no official branding guidelines to reference, it was challenging to maintain visual consistency while including all of BPW’s values without affecting the design. The process also required multiple rounds of review and communication with company leadership including late-stage revisions to content, terminology, and visual accuracy.
The Solution
I met with leadership and performed a walk-through of the building, taking note of the size and textures of the walls. I concluded that the best use was acrylic signs for the drywall and concrete, and self-adhesive vinyl applied by heat for the cinderblock wall. For the typography, I didn’t have a guide to follow. However, I used a font that closely matched the sans serif font used in the logo, creating cohesion between the two. Lastly, BPW wanted more design elements rather than just text on a background. Because they serve the Cherokee county area, I traced map graphics of the county and the cities of Blacksburg and Gaffney.
