About Me
Bio
I took up photography almost 10 years ago. I bought a Nikon D3200 with hopes of making it in the automotive industry, but a five year detour to Boone, North Carolina quickly derailed those plans. I studied Studio Art at Appalachian State University with a focus on Fine Art Photography and because I was close to the Blue Ridge Mountains, I fell in love with the surrounding landscape and the people that lived there. I spent those years taking pictures of the mountains, the waterfalls, and anyone that would let me take their portrait.
Since then, I have spent the last half decade doing everything from marketing and graphic design to photography and social media for ministries, non-profit organizations, and higher education. I love people and their stories and I would be excited to photograph you and yours.
My Creative Process
I approach photography with the intention of keeping everything cool, calm, and collected. I don’t like stiff poses; it looks weird, unnatural, and I can only imagine the subject model feels awkward (think the engagement pictures scene in the movie Masterminds). At most, I give general directions and actions. I like to sit down with each person and collaborate with them every detail that will go into the finished product long before the day of the shoot. Stuff like mood boards, outfits, the color palette, etc. Doing this gets us both excited about the day and we both will go into it knowing what the vibe is. When the day comes, we’re mostly hanging out, taking photos, and creating memories you will remember. If this sounds like you, let’s get in touch!
